Happy Apples Recipe

 

This is an Ayurvedic recipe to aid in stomach inflammation. Eat it first thing in the morning on an empty tummy – may have green tea if you like. Nothing else for at least 15 minutes. Or serve as a healthy gluten-free dessert.

Recipe serves 1. (Multiply this recipe by the number of apples used)

Ingredients:

1 apple, peeled and diced
Scant ¼ cup filtered water
½ tsp of ground cinnamon (more to your taste)
¼ tsp ground cardamom (more to your taste)
5 whole cloves
Pinch of unrefined salt
Simply Ghee or Honey Ghee to coat the apples

 

Directions:

Place everything in a pan over medium heat. Can cover it and use less water allowing the fluid to absorb into the apple. Cook till the apples are tender (to your liking). Place in a bowl and toss with a generous amount of Honey ghee. Enjoy!
Can add raisins or dried cranberries. Topping with shredded coconut is wonderful as well.

Simply Pear Dessert

 

Ingredients:

1 TBS of Simply Ghee
½ – 1 Tsp of each: ground nutmeg, cinnamon
Pinch of each: unrefined salt, ground cloves, all spice
2 TBS raw honey or maple syrup
2 Bartlett/sweet pears, peeled, cored and thinly sliced

 

Simple Preparation:

Melt the ghee, add all the spices and allow them to warm over low heat till aroma is released.  Add the honey or maple syrup to warm. Add the pear slices and gently toss till coated with spice and ghee mixture. Cook over low heat – covered for a few minutes. If you notice the pan is drying out, add a TBS of water and cover to allow the steam to cook the pears.

Once pears are softened to your liking remove from pan and serve with a drizzle of honey or maple syrup and a dash of cinnamon. This is also delightful served with a little freshly whipped cream topped with finely grated coconut or shaved chocolate as a garnish.  Simply plain is scrumptious too! Try it with any fruit.


 

 

Simply The “Best” Hot Chocolate

 

Ingredients:

1 Tsp Simply Ghee
2 TBS shaved dark chocolate (70% and up for the best health benefits)
1 Cup of organic wholesome milk
Pinch each of nutmeg, cinnamon and cayenne pepper

 

Simple Preparation

Melt the chocolate preferably in a double broiler but if you want it fast, microwave it fill melted. Add to the pan, the spices and milk and warm together over low heat till hot. Drop in  Simply Ghee and serve.
